A Visit from the South Burlington Fire Department

Firefighter Brad Dattilio came to Chamberlin School on Friday to teach all of our students about fire safety. Did your kindergartener come home and ask you about your family's escape plan? We learned many safety tips including the fact that you should always have 2 ways to escape in the event there was ever a fire.

Firefighter Dattilio showed us how to check a closed door to see if it is hot from a fire on the other side. We should always feel the door with the back of our hands.

He also put on his coat, mask and hat to show us how he protects himself.

Thank you to all of the South Burlington firefighters for keeping us safe!

Making applesauce

Our class used the apples we picked at Chapin Orchard to make applesauce for Open House. We each got to peel, core and slice the apples using a special tool. Then we chopped up the sliced apples and added them to the crock pot. Our final ingredient was cinnamon. Our classroom smelled so good all day long! We were so excited to come to Open House to taste our delicious applesauce!

YUM!!

Field Trip to Chapin Orchard

Today we visited Chapin Orchard in Essex. We got to pick apples, taste freshly pressed apple cider, and learn about how bees help the apple trees. Thank you to the families who were able to join us. We had a fantastic morning! We hope you had as much fun as we did!
